EARTH MOTO - DZIVAAK
BMW R80 RT 1989

A little background. A Slovak customer asked me to rebuild his BMW R80. His vision was a little bit different from ours. Obviously we did what he wanted and the bike is beautiful.

However, for our purposes (pictures on website) we made a little 'detour' after finishing the customer's bike.. Instead of using a customer's Walzwerk seat and the subframe I quickly designed three parts of the pan and the subframe and asked my friend to laser cut them instantly. It is very similar to our own subframe based on our Budzogan model but with detachable capability.

The rear lights and indicators are also Highsider Proton 11mm integrated in the seat pan. I also used a Budzogan spare dark brown seat made by Militaseats from Czechia which we had in a shop. Because of the design I had to raise the rear of the tank about 1 inch.

Everyone has personal preferences. Some people like cafe racers, some people scramblers, there are preferences for certain components and, of course, color matching can be in the thousands of options. In such projects, the customer also becomes a creator. In this way, the resulting motorcycle becomes even more exceptional for the customer. You don't just buy a motorcycle here, you create a motorcycle. It is also important to say that such joint creation also has its limits. From experience, we already know which combinations of components and colors create a harmonious piece .

According to the customer's choice of a bigger look stock engine cover and the air filter we changed those to a more slick K&N airpods and the aluminium cover painted the same Cerakote black color as the engine itself.

Because of the Shinko tires' big height I had to grind a fork bridge a bit to fit the short aluminum fender. It is just about 1cm above the tire which made a customer very happy as well as me because I did not want to weaken the bridge too much. The whole bike was obviously rebuilt. A surprise was very badly damaged cam followers but the camshaft was intact.

All other parts are just our standard. We always use Discacciati levers, a variety of Motogadget/Motone/Highsider parts, Lifepo4 battery/regulator hidden under the tank etc... Obviously all damaged parts are replaced, all the gaskets, O-ring seals and piston rings are new as well. The pistons and rebuilt carbs are vapor blasted.

The customer's choice of the headlight is very nice. It was already discontinued the Highsider 5 4/3 inch LED headlight. I always wanted to use headlight fairing, which had been wandering around the shop for years. So now was the time to show off. I used the old BMW R80 7 inch headlight lens insert for it. We were a little bit worried because of the yellow colour of the screen but eventually we ended up with an idea to not alter the color in the photo editor. The yellow fits just perfectly in contrast with the satin black finish of the bike.

Wheels and frame shaved of unnecessary brackets are powder coated. The passenger seats were not removed (just moved forward) because of the Walzwerk longer seat possibility to take a passenger. But also because the Slovak law requires the passengers footpegs if the bike is officially for two riders.
